Do you know what ISP's block smtp when using their dial up accounts?

  • Many ISP's are blocking smtp (Port 25) which is the port used to send e-mail. They have chosen to do this to cut down on the amount of "SPAM" mail that is sent. We are seeing more and more ISP's doing this, and it can be a real pain if you are trying to send email thru any other server except theirs. You can check with your internet service provider to see if they are doing this.

Keep in mind you can always use the web based interface at:
    http://mail.yourdomain.com:8383

At this time, these are the ones that we know of who block smtp (NOT an exhaustive list).

    NetZero
    Mindspring
    MSN
    Earthlink
    Flashnet
    MediaOne
    AT&T
    Verizon
    Bell Canada
    Cox
    Promedia
    Bellsouth

You do have the ablility to specify an alternate port in your Mail client (port 587) for your SMTP connection which should allow you to continue to use the MaximumASP SMTP servers to send out emails.
